Letter to Vice Chancellors regarding submission of joining reports for the selected candidates under UGC scheme - (i) Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Single Girl Child and (ii) PG Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders
Dear Sir,
As you are aware, UGC formulated and implemented two new schemes viz._ (i) Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Single Girl Child and (ii) PG Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders. UGC invited applications and scrutinized with
the help of the expert committee and selected 1047 candidates for Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Single Girl Child and 668 for PG Merit scholarship for University Rank Holders. The Award function was organized on 19th November, 2005 at Vigyan Bhawan,
New Delhi. The above schemes are for non-professional courses only.
For claiming the scholarship amount i.e. Rs.2000/- per month for selected awardees, the selected candidates will have to submit the joining report through the University / College where he/she has taken admission into first year
PG course during the academic year 2005-2006. The University is requested to forward the joining reports of the selected candidates after duly verifying the documents submitted by the candidates while submitting application for the award.
The conditions for the award of PG Merit scholarship for University Rank Holders are as under:
The awardee shall submit joining report to the UGC through the University / College where he/she has taken admission in PG 1st Year regular/full time course.
The award carries a monthly scholarship of Rs. 2000/- and will not debar the awardee from availing any other scholarship.
It may kindly be noted that the Award under the scheme- Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holder is for PG Courses and not for Under Graduate Courses. The University is requested to check the authenticity of admission of the candidate in the PG Course only.
The duration of the Scholarship is two years and there will be no extension beyond two years.
The Certificate for the 1st & 2nd Rank holder from the university in the concerned subject should be attached.
The award of the Scholarship is subject to the terms & conditions laid down in the guidelines for this scheme. The guidelines are available on the UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in.
If the scholar is found ineligible for the award at a later date, action will be initiated and the scholar is liable to refund the entire amount of scholarship paid.
If the above terms and conditions are acceptable to the student, acceptance certificate from the student may be sent along with joining report.
The conditions for the award of Indira Gandhi PG scholarship for Single Girl Child are as under:

The award carries a monthly scholarship of Rs. 2000/- and will not debar the awardee from availing any other scholarship.
The duration of the Scholarship is two years and there will be no extension beyond two years.
The affidavit/certificate for the Single Girl Child by the 1st Class Magistrate /Gazetted Officer submitted by the candidate will be verified by the
University/College where she has been admitted in the PG course. The certificate signed by any other officers except
those mentioned above will not be accepted. The certificates attested by Notary or any other officer who is not a Gazetted Officer may be endorsed by SDM/ Gazetted Officer.
The award of the Scholarship is subject to the terms & conditions laid down in the guidelines for this scheme. The guidelines are available on the UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in.

If the above terms and conditions are acceptable to the student, acceptance Certificate from the student may be sent along with joining report.
You are requested to bring to the notice to all the departments at your university and affiliated colleges for claiming scholarship amount of Rs.2, 000/- per month in respect of selected candidates. You are further requested before sending joining reports to UGC kindly verify the correctness of the documents at your institution level.
