The University Grants Commission awards 20 Junior Research Fellowships and 7 Research Associate-ships every year to the scholars (teachers and students) from developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America to undertake advanced studies and research in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities/Colleges/Institutions. These fellowships are awarded in concurrence with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. A copy of the Guidelines and Application format is enclosed herewith for your information. If more of them are needed, the same may be multiplied at your end.
Applications from eligible scholars for the year 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 there by meaning that the slots available will be doubled under the said scheme may be forwarded to the Commission (in triplicate) as early as possible but not later than 15th June, 2008 for consideration. By this one time exercise the time log will be extinguished.
The Foreign Nationals who are already studying for Doctorate & Post Doctoral Degree in India will also be considered, if they send their applications through the University where they propose to pursue their research work duly endorsed by the concerned Embassy/High Commission. The tenure of the fellowship is for 4 (Four) years non-extendable under both of these scheme.
The selection will be made by the Commission on the recommendations of an Expert Committee subject-wise constituted for the purpose. The decision of the Commission shall be final. The Commission holds the right to cancel or withdraw the fellowship/associate ship without assigning any reason. The University Grants Commission will not be responsible for arranging boarding and lodging of selected candidates during their stay in India after selection. The cost of travel to India and return will not be borne by the Commission.
The direct and incomplete application from scholars will also not be entertained, Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
