NOTIFICATION

No.F. 6-14/2005 (CPP-I)                        9th February, 2005

The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development has directed the UGC under the provisions contained in the Section 20(1) of the UGC Act, 1956 to constitute following Review Committee to look into the representations of the Institutions which had applied for the Deemed to be University status and whose proposals have been rejected by the Screening Committee constituted by the Commission. The Review Committee comprises :

1. Prof. H.P. Dixit, Chairperson, AICTE and VC, IGNOU, New Delhi
2. Prof. Abhay Maurya, Department of Russian Studies, New Delhi
3. Prof. Abad Ahmad, 20 Cavellary Line, University of Delhi, Delhi- 110007.
4. Prof. P.K. Dave, Former Director, AIIMS, New Delhi
5. Prof. K.M. Pathak, Former, VC, Tezpur University
6. Prof. A.K. Gupta, Centre for Polymer Science & Engineering, IIT Delhi

The Secretariat of the Review Committee will be in the office of the UGC.

The Terms of Reference of the Review Committee will as follows:

The Committee will examine the appeal made by the institution seeking Deemed to be University status and give its report and recommendations for appropriate action. The recommendations of the Committee will be binding on the Commission.

Institutions which want to appeal before the Review Committee against the observations of the Screening Committee may submit their appeals alongwith full justification and documentary evidence in support of their claims to the Secretary, UGC within a month from the date of the receipt of the UGC's decision on the proposal.
