Recognition: National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accreditated many courses offered by Anna University and has graded A+ for most of the courses. The University has also been awarded with FIVE STAR STATUS by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University has been awarded ISO 9001: 2000 by TUV, SUDDEUTSH LAND, Munich, Germany.

Other Details: Anna University was established in 1978 as a Unitary Type of University. The University was formed by bringing together the four institutions in the city of Chennai, namely, College of Engineering, Guindy (1794), Alagappa College of Technology (1944), School of Architecture and Planning (1957) and Madras Institute of Technology (1949). In December 2001, the Government of Tamil Nadu by amending the Act brought all the 225 Engineering Colleges and 10 Govt. Aided Engineering Colleges in the State under the control of Anna University to have uniform curriculum and examination to all the students in the State. The University has 7 faculties, having 30 Departments and 41 Research Centres. The research areas include New Materials, Nano Technology, Security, Catalysis, Neural networks, Micro Satellite, New Molecules, Drug discovery, Crystals, Cryptography, Internet technologies, etc.

Infrastructure Facilities: The University is spread over 100 acres at the heart of Chennai city enshrined with nature. The campus have Electronic Mail, CD-ROM, Malibnet, Inflibnet and Audio Visual Facilities. The University has 15 hostel blocks in the campus, housing 2500 male students and 750 girl students. Necessary accommodation can be arranged outside the campus also. The University has an excellent Guest House facilities and a separate International Students Hostel in the campus.

Other amenities: 1) Cooperatives stores, 2) Three Nationalised Banks, 3) Cafeteria, 4) Telegraph Office, 5) STD/ISD/PCO, 6) Shoe Mart, 7) Tailoring, 8) Saloon 9) Gymnasium, 10) Swimming Pool, 11) Cellular Services, etc.

Co-curricular Activities: Each Department has a technical association with Industries which undertakes activities such as seminars, debates on a weekly basis and further Annual conventions are conducted by each Departments.

Student support services: Students are encouraged to join character development and personality improvement programme by involving in NSS/NCC/NSO/YRC.

Programs Offered: B.E. / B. Tech, ME / M. Tech and Ph.D. programs in different area of engineering.
