Other Details: The Bengal Engineering College was established way back in 1856 with the idea of introducing engineering education in the country. Till 1993 it was a constituent college of the Calcutta University and offering P.G courses since 1954. The college was elevated to the status of a deemed University in 1993.

Infrastructure Facilities: The University has internationally comparable infrastructure for under graduated and post graduate teaching as evident by ISO certification accreditation by NBA, TEQIP assistance and FIST funding for 8 departments, and research projects sponsored by agencies like NEDO[JAPAN], NASA[USA], INTEL[USA], CARE[USA], CANMET[CANADA], etc. and collaborative programmes with different foreign Universities.
