Location Details: It is located on the West Coast of India and is about 600 kms from Mumbai and also from Bangalore. Goa is well connected by road, rail and air to other cities. It is a tourist spot of international recognition.

Recognition: Accredited by NAAC with a rating of four stars on a five point scale.

Other Details: The current faculty strength is 132. It has 23 teaching departments, 2 centres and an UGC-Academic staff college. It has facilities for imparting distance education in the interactive mode via satellite. The university also conducts credit based extension programme titled Study India programme for students from College of International studies, Nihon University, Mishima, Japan. Till 2005-06 three batches of students have already completed the Study India Programme offered by Goa University. All the departments are networked and provided Internet access. The Library is automated and receives e-journals. It has 46 affiliated colleges/ institutions imparting professional and non-professional education and 8 recognized research institutions. It has an enrolment of approximately 21000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Infrastructure Facilities: The University has independent buildings for all Faculties with modern amenities in classroom teaching. The Science departments are well equipped to handle Teaching, Laboratory work and Research. The University has also introduced modern audio-visual technology in teaching.

Other Ameneties: The other amenities on the campus include a full-fledged computerized State Bank of India branch with 24 hour ATM Facility, Shopping Complex, Kiosk, STD/ISD Facility PCO, Coin Box Facility in the faculty buildings, Internet Centre and Post Office.

Co-curricular Activities: The Students Union and Council organise student festivals and other programmes that are coordinated through the Directorate of Students Welfare and Cultural Affairs. Literary and Cultural competitions are organised for the students of the University and affiliated colleges every year. Foreign Students Association also holds their annual celebrations every year.

Student Support Services: The Student Support Services include: Central Library, Computer Centre, Health Centre, Sports Facilities (Football ground, Eight lanes 400 mtrs. Athletic track, Volleyball courts, Gymnasium etc.), Science Instrumentation Centre, Hostels, Guest House, Canteen and Grievance Redressal Cell.
