Location Details: The university is situated in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttranchal state en route the Valley of Flowers and famous shrines Badrinath, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib,335 km north-east of national capital New Delhi.

Recognition: NAAC accreditation- B++(2002).State Government’s (U.P.)ranking I & II UNESCO Award for Extension Education-2003.

Other Details: The university has some departments doing exemplary research work in different areas of social and basic sciences. It has strong base in medicinal and aromatic plants, tourism,botany,zoology,biotechnology,environmental sciences, chemistry, culture and archaelogy . A museum of Ethnography, an Alpine Research Station at 3700 m in Himalayas and series of Tourist Rest Houses are some examples of the operational activities being undertaken by the University. University is a strong unit for imparting extension education.

Infrastructure Facilities: The University has adequate infrastructure for conducting courses at different levels. At one of the three campuses one department has UGC COSIST programme, two UGC SAP and four departments have received funding under DST’s FIST programme. In addition different departments have received funding from different R & D agencies under research projects.

Co-curricular Activities: The students get opportunity to participate in National Service Scheme(NSS),NCC,Sports and Cultural Programmes.
