Other Details: The university has three faculties – Faculty of Arts with 12 departments, Faculty of Engineering and Technology with 17 departments and Faculty of Science with 5 departments. It also has 17 Schools and 27 Centres of interdisciplinary studies. Majority of these units have earned recognition through DSA, CAS, COSIST, FIST programme and are acting as nodal centres nationally or regionally. Continuing Education course aimed towards retraining of industrial workers, knowledge updating of in service professionals as well as awareness generation in the society also from an integral part of the university activity. This endeavor has also been acclaimed with UNESCONLM award by the Govt. of India. To top it all JU has been identified as one of the first five universities in the country with ‘University with potential for excellence’ status.

In its pursuit of excellence this university now aims to develop a strong network with its neighbors as we as the best in the country and abroad in addition to its efforts in strengthening the existing programmes of teaching, research, extension and outreach. Some of the recent attainments in this direction include initiation of collaborative programmes with universities in UK & Brazil. It inclusion in the fraternity of institutions through Nippon Foundation has also opened up possibilities of interaction with 68 institutions in 45 countries.
