Recognition: (i) Planning Commission identified Mizoram University for preparing State Development Report on Mizoram. (ii) Identified by Union M.H.R.D, for monitoring Central Government’s universalisation of primary education programme (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) (iii) UGC identified for Promotion of Indian Higher Education Abroad (PIHEAD) Programme. (iv) Centre for conducting NET examination (National Education Testing).

Other Details: Mizoram University (MZU) was established o the 2nd July, 2001 by an act of the Parliament. Earlier it existed in the form of the Mizoram Campus of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong between 1979 and 2001. The University has one (1) constituent college namely, Pachhunga University College and 30 odd affiliated colleges.

Infrastructure Facilities: Academic block, Administrative and Library Buildings, Hostels and Residential units, and other buildings are currently under construction This new construction would be in addition to the six academic/ administrative block, which came up under the previous dispensation, prior to 2001.

Other ameneties: Library, PG hostel for Boys and Girls, Laboratories, Auditorium, Botanical Garden, College Development Council (CDC).

Co-curricular Activities: Sports, National Service Scheme (NS), National Cadet Corps, (NCC).

Student Support Services: Health Centre, Seminars,Curriculam ,General Study Tours. A Dean of Students Welfare has been appointed to coordinate students affairs. Plans are afoot to establish Career Guidance and Counselling Service, Individual Conferencing etc.

Programs Offered: UG and PG level programme in B.A, B.Com, B.Sc. M.A, M.Com & M.Sc.
