Recognition: Accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council, India.The University Grants Commission, India has identified Pondicherry University for promotion of Higher education Abroad (PHEAD) program.

Other Details: The University is located on scenic seashore on the Chennai-Pondicherry highway and is rich in cultural heritage with temples and places of worship dotted over the city. It also has Unique French background with French nationals still residing in the town as a reminiscent of the past French rule in Pondicherry. Pondicherry consists of a metropolitan atmosphere and its closeness to Chennai and Bangalore multiplies its trade tourism activities.

Infrastructure Facilities: The University has good infrastructure facilities for postgraduate teaching and research. Three University Departments are recognized by the UGC for FIST funding. A number of projects have been funded by organization like: UGC, AICTE, DST, ICSSR, NIEPA, DRDO, CSIR, DAE, DBT, Ministry of Environment & Forest, Planning Commission, Madras School of Economics & University of Massachusetts, USA.

Other Ameneties: The University has a Central Library, Well-equipped laboratories, full-fledged computer Centre, high-speed Internet access and a Science Instrumentation Centre. The University subscribes to online journals and periodicals. The University has five hostels for men and three hostels for women to accommodate about 700 students.
