Other Details: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) came into existence on June 1, 1971 by an act of the Legislature of the State of Tamil Nadu. The objectives of the University are to impact education in different and allied sciences, to further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research and to undertake the extension of such sciences to rural people.

The post graduate programs leading to Master’s Degree and Ph.D. were started at first in Coimbatore and then in various constituent colleges.
