Technology Description: Polycaprolactone Microspheres have been prepared by emulsification/diffusion solvents evaporation technique using a new stabilizer. This new stabilizer is a naturally occurring, biocompatible polymer. This stabilizer can be used in the preparation of microparticles for drugs that are soluble in organic phase and/or have a lower solubility in acidic media as the stabilizer is in acidic aqueous media. It can also be used for microparticles of any hydrophobic polymers. This development has potential application in the field of controlled release technology of drugs and is also of interest to pharmaceutical industries that are manufacturing novel drug delivery systems. The competitive advantages are (i) Non-toxic and biodegradable (ii) Economically viable as stabilizer is abundantly available in nature (iii) Particles of fairly uniform size can be obtained.
