Technology Description: Chemo and radiotherapies are associated with many unwanted toxic side effects. Plant derived drugs of Ayurvedic origin are known for their therapeutic potential in various disease conditions. The major unwanted side effects of cancer chemotherapy were encountered by certain plant-derived formulations. Cancer chemotherapy targets rapidly dividing cancer cells but produces substantial acute and chronic toxicity, affecting rapidly dividing normal body cells, mostly marrow cells thus limiting the effectiveness of treatment. Chemoprotectant are used to improve the therapeutic ratio by selectively reducing toxicity of cancer chemotherapeutic agent, in non-tumor bearing tissues. The application areas are Cancer Treatment and Immunodeficiency conditions. The competitive advantage is: (i) This is a new totally new strategy to protect side effects of cancer therapy.
